For those of you interested in how potty training is going with my middle daughter, I’m here to update you.
She is 3 years and 4 months old. Up until last week she was still wearing pull ups and had no desire to do anything else. I had given up a few months ago, not willing to have any more fights and battles of will over her going to the toilet. I was spending $20-$30 a month on pull ups. That’s three dinners at home for my family.
Friday night during the evening with my friends, potty training came up. They told me to just suck it up and put her in panties. So Saturday morning when she got up I took her to the toilet and told her it was panty day! She was excited, she put them on and has never looked back. She’s been dry ever since, even at night.
Now she still requires reminders, so she’s not completely potty trained, in my opinion. That comes when a child takes herself to the toilet when she knows she needs to go. I can’t remember how long that takes, but I’m committed to reminding her for several months.
So Grandma is coming over this morning to take her to buy some new panties as a fun treat for being a big girl.
And know something amazing? Little Boy has been telling me when he needs to go, too. So far he’s not doing anything on the toilet, but he’s very happy to sit there and then when I take him off he pees on his pants. But hey, it’s a start.
