Hiding God’s Word In Their Hearts

posted in Uncategorized |

You know, sometimes I don’t tell the truth. (GASP!) The weight listed on my driver’s license being a prime example. :) When I’m with my kids all day, sometimes I unwittingly lie.

“Mom, can we go to Grandma’s and swim?”¬† “Sure, honey, just as soon as we… (fill in the blank).”

But then that thing takes longer and all of a sudden it’s nap time for Little Boy and we have to go home instead of going swimming. I didn’t mean to lie, but I did.

One of the things that I love about parenting God’s way is that he NEVER lies. I can point the kids to the Bible and know that God’s Word is always true.

Does God really love me? You betcha! It says so in John 3:16.

Does everybody sin? Even Daddy? Yep. Romans 3:23.

Today we started back to Bible Study Fellowship¬† . Both of the girls get to go and Little Boy will start in March when he turns 2. This year we’re studying the Life of Moses, which runs from Exodus through Deuteronomy. The children study the same passage of scripture as the women. The same Biblical truths. They learn about sin and redemption and justification and fun stuff like that. But most importantly they learn that the whole Bible points to Jesus. The Old Testament looks forward to Jesus’ birth and the NT looks forward to his coming again. And that the only way to heaven is through Jesus.

When I picked up the girls from their classes I asked them what songs they sang and Precious told me they sang Holy, Holy, Holy (they have about 15 songs that they rotate throughout the year so they learn some meaty, deep theological hymns) . It thrills my heart to know that my little almost-five year old is memorising a hymn that she will remember her entire life.¬† And it’s not a fluffy, feel good song that focuses on self. It’s all about Him.

Holy Holy Holy! Lord God Almighty! Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee!

My prayer is that my kids will remember the Biblical truths that they are learning. That they will be able to apply them to their little lives and then share them with others. What a privilege it is for me to be with my children, watching them learn about our God.
