Michele’s got her groove back

Before we moved to California, Handsome and I started discussing what kind of cell phones we would purchase. We talked about the option of not having a landline at all, but eventually determined that the best internet deal for us was
DSL rather than cable, so we had to get a landline. But anyway, while Handsome was still back in New Zealand and I had just moved to California with the kids, he sent me a very long email with detailed information on the type of phone he thought I would want along with the reasons why he chose that particular phone, as well as the prices on the basic plans and then all the extra options. We decided to go with a Nokia N75, which I must say is the coolest phone I’ve ever owned. It’s pretty much the coolest electronic thing I’ve ever owned. I’m sure there’s a coffee-making feature in there somewhere, I just haven’t discovered it. I love my phone. I don’t know how to use most of the features, but I’ll figure it out one day when I have time. I tend to fiddle with it when we’re in the car and I’m not driving. But I digress.

One of the reason Handsome chose this phone for me is that it has a feature that allows me to listen to the radio, as well as MP3s. I love music and will normally choose to have music playing all the time. Since having children, the music is usually something like Ralph’s World or Sunday School songs being sung by a tomato or something. I particularly like listening to music while I’m working in the kitchen. Over the weekend Handsome went to the AT&T store and got the attachment thingy that I needed to make the radio work and he programmed in the two stations that I listen to most - KLOVE and a local country station, which I choose not to disclose because you never know what crazy nut reads my blog and would figure out where I live based on the station.

Tonight I plugged in my earphones and stuck the phone in the pocket of my apron (yes, I wear aprons in the kitchen. It saves my shirts from getting yucked up from greasy water when I wash dishes) and I went to town. I was dancing around, shaking my hips, tapping my toes. I even think my butt wiggled a time or two. (Don’t spend too much time thinking about that, it’s really not worth it) And I was definitely singing. Loud. Fortunately I can definitely carry a tune, but after a few minutes of singing along with John Michael Montgomery’s “Sold”, Handsome came in and said “You’re disturbing the household. Precious keeps coming in and asking why Mummy is making so much noise.” I was told to use my quiet voice.

Well. I used my quiet voice, but I was definitely belting it out on the inside!
